Sennheiser HD 600 headphones review

the sennheiser HD 600 are the best set of headphones that i've ever owned. I use these in the studio for critical listnening duting production and mixdown. It is not advised to exclusively use headphones for mixing or tracking, but there are some sitruations where is it either neccessarey or helpful. especially when you are editing and need to listen for specific artifacts.

the sennheiser HD 600 are "open back" headphones. open headphones are much more natural sounding because they allow your ear to be exposed to the environment you are in.  Don't use open headphones on an airplaine or you'll have some very unhappy cabin mates.

The HD600 have a great blend of accuracy and audio detail combined with a very pleasing and comfortable sound. I have experienced very little listening fatigue compared to other high-end headphones.

the ear cups are huge and the velour cushions are deep and ultra comfortable. even if you have really big ears, these will feel like wearing nothing. the drivers are positioned at an optimal distance from your ear canal. it also has a detachable cable.

adjectives i would use to describe the HD 600 are :

"intimate, warmth, depth, detail, clarity, and impact"

at 300 ohms, your ipod shuffle may not have enough power to drive them the way they need it, but your home stereo or studio equipment will be more than acceptable.

these cans are definitely pro, all the way. perfect for studio use. Not for the artist to wear while tracking, since they are open back, but perfect for the engineer in the control room and for critical listening. Audiophiles love these and they are one of the most popular audiophile heaphones around. better than the Grado and Beyerdynamic in my opinion.
