Electric Guitar Modification by Paul Houser

A good 2kool4skool customer, Paul Houser, did a very cool mod on one of our electric guitars.

Here's a quick run through with pictures..

I thought you might like this re-application of one of your products. Here's the original:
Blue Metallic SG electric guitar

Bought it from you about 2 years ago. Since then I've been making random modifications and enhancements, and now finally have got the guitar to what I consider 'perfect'. The only thing original on it is the neck, body, and tuners (will be replacing the tuners with locking ones during my next string change). Here's pictures:

The total list of changes are:
Replaced tune-o-matic bridge with roller bridge.
Replaced string mounting majigger with Hofner D10-style whammy vibrato/tremolo
Replaced pickups with (N) GFS Filtertron "Liverpool" overwould and (B) GFS Dream P90.
Added a second tone and volume pot, and then rewired the whole thing to my own crazy specification.
Replaced all the knobs with LP-vintage style top-hats
Replaced 3-way switch with MGR GuitarPro three-way LP replacement switch
Replaced the front-mount audio jack with a MGR GuitarPro flush mount.
Repainted and turned the wiring guard plate into a plate to cover up my drilling mistakes. ;) But now I'm missing a plate to cover up my amazing wiring job. (It was only amazing after half a dozen trials and error based configurations which either didn't work or worked partially).

The result, looks-wise and sound-wise is amazing. Now I've got a solid, professional sounding blues/jazz machine.

So I thought you might enjoy this. It was really a fun project for me to learn the basics of guitar modding. And the original guitar was perfect to practice on, it's got a fantastic neck and body (As primarily an acoustic guitarist, I prefer the wide neck much more to the skinny one on a real Gibson SG), but was cheap enough to not worry about screwing up. I'd never do this to a real SG. But I tell you, the next guitar I buy (after a 12-string Dean Boca) is going to be another 2k4s, so that I can start over on my mod project in a capacity where I actually know what I'm doing. :)
Best
Paul
