How Much Should I Practice?
The answer you probably don't want to hear is, you can never practice too much. The truth is, if you are trying to find out what the minimum amount of time you practice and still become a successful professional musician is, you may not have what it takes.

At age 15, i was driven to practice constantly. My friends didn't want to talk to me on the phone because i was zoned out of the conversation and doing techniques. I would go to the movies and all i could think of was the changes and the orchestration. You don't need to take it to extremes but you do need to be asking "How can I fit more practice into my day?" rather than "How much do I need to practice?".

Don't be discouraged though. It is immensely rewarding. You have no idea until you are in your mid twenties, sitting in the midst of the most talented people you have ever shared oxygen with, daydreaming of how you came to be in that chair, and then the conductor taps and you wake up to this blissful music written by a man who died 300 odd years ago. Practice is the only road that takes you there. Lots of it. More than you may want to do right now, but trust me, it's worth it.
