"Red Rider" Gorgeous red wood grain finish This is a Classy guitar! You could call this a beginner's axe because of the price point (at least they way we blow them out), but I had a chance to let it rip and I think this guitar deserves a lot more credit than that. The bridge position humbucker is seriously hot. I had this in bridge-only and I was driving my little Princeton Reverb to past blues heaven and into the speed metal zone. It has some beef and it is versatile. The sustain could be a little better, but the same can be said for most lower end electric guitars. What I really liked was the wide range of tones I could get from the 3 pickups and the various combinations. Similar to a strat in principal, but I'd say the sounds were more like an 80's Ibanez or a Jackson. Through my stack, (Marshal JCM 900 - 8x12) it stood up to a few guitars that were way above it's paygrade. In the end, nothing's going to make me give up my Parker Fly, but for the money, I endorse this guitar. Heck, for 5 times the money I would whole-heartedly endorse it. This guitar has the features and craftsmanship of guitars selling for much much more. Why pay more for a brand name when you don't have to? If this is going to be your first guitar, I'd say it's a great choice for the following reasons: - The quality is completely solid - lifetime of use
- 3 pickups are versatile - as you change your style, it will work with you
- Body and neck are comfortable - compact, contoured body, fast neck
- When you move up to a bigger amp, this guitar will really shine. Electronics are upgraded already.
- If you have smaller hands, or if you prefer a thinner neck - this guitar has a 1.66" neck (measured at the nut) - much better for smaller hands compared to other guitars.
Basically, it is great for learning on now and it is not the kind of guitar that you'll be wanting to trade in at the pawn shop after you get some chops.
